Shivonne Odom is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland and Washington, DC. She is a therapist at her private practice Akoma Counseling Concepts, LLC with a focus on advocacy, women’s issues, race related stress/ trauma and African American perinatal mental health. Shivonne has presented at several national perinatal mental health conferences on African American maternal mental health including Postpartum Support International. In September 2019 Shivonne completed a collaboration with the Legislature of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett to promote pro bono efforts focusing on African American maternal mental health in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Shivonne's work in maternal mental health has been featured in several local media outlets, national podcasts, and social media publications, such as Romper, Parents magazine and Huff Post. Shivonne completed her masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Howard University and her B.A. in Psychology from UMass, Boston.
