Everything you need to know to rock the postpartum experience

We work hard during our 40 plus weeks of pregnancy in preparation for birth, but at times we overlook the delicateness of the postpartum period.

Join us as we host guest speakers- Olivia Pelts and Lauren Mackellar of Sunshine City Counseling during a Postpartum planning workshop.

Goals of this workshop

  • A better understanding of realistic postpartum expectations

  • Knowledge and practical tips of how you can support yourself both physically and mentally postpartum (mind and body impact one another)

  • Specific steps you can take to set yourself up for wellness postpartum -- super practical with lots of take aways!

About our speakers:

  • Olivia found her love of helping others through the love she experienced from her community when completing college and the demands that came with that journey. The power of community surrounded her as she dove headfirst into all the reading and trying to better understand where she had come from and how she got to where she was. The women she lived with showed her a kind of fierce love and tenderness that she is eternally grateful for. Olivia has a Masters in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. Regarding her counseling style, Olivia states- “I’m grateful that as I have learned to hold space for the dark seasons, spaces and emotions I have experienced, I will gladly enter into those spaces alongside you. Your darkness does not scare me.”

  • Lauren shares that Motherhood changed her- “Hello, postpartum anxiety. I was working HARD. But not in the kind of way that feels productive and fulfilling. My mind was reeling as I pictured every dangerous scenario that could possibly present itself to my baby.” Lauren shares that her anxiety convinced her that she had to be there and on guard all the time to make sure her baby was ok. Her perfectionism told her that she couldn’t relax. She had to keep working hard and continue to ignore that need for sleep. She had to give it her all even if it interfered with her own well-being. Lauren is a Maternal Mental Health Therapist and values the healing power of being present and she shows up with this in each client session. Lauren firmly believes that you don’t need to change to be loved, you just need to be.
