The Tampa Bay Birth Network is proud to present the 2016 Natural Birth & Baby Expo with the help of our amazing sponsors! This popular community event is only made possible thanks to the generous support of business like the one featured below. Thank you!
Our mission at Happy Healthy Spine is dedicated to helping Tampa Bay Area families get on the road to wellness by providing chiropractic care to help improve the quality of life for each and every family member from pre-conception and beyond. We believe in empowering families with education to enable them to make informed health decisions.
We offer chiropractic services for the whole family. We provide care to pregnant women, newborns, toddlers, children, teenagers, moms, dads, and grandparents. Chiropractic care is a holistic approach to wellness, looking at the body as a whole rather than just an individual’s symptoms.
Dr. Shannon Whitlock is the owner and Chiropractic Physician at Happy Healthy Spine. Dr. Whitlock is a graduate of Life University’s College of Chiropractic. Dr. Whitlock is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, which specializes in chiropractic care for pregnant women, newborns, and pediatrics. She is certified in the Webster Technique. She is also a member of the American Pregnancy Association.
Dr. Whitlock has always had a passion for helping others and had dreamed of being a doctor since she was in elementary school. She was introduced to chiropractic while in undergraduate school at Florida State University and fell in love with the profession immediately. Chiropractic aligned perfectly with her dreams and passions, giving her the opportunity to care for whole families.
Happy Healthy Spine is a family practice in every aspect. Dr. Whitlock’s mother is the office manager, chiropractic assistant, and child entertainer/baby holder (allowing moms and dads to relax while getting adjusted). Kids love coming to the chiropractor because our office is designed with them in mind.
Dr. Whitlock’s approach to health care is to help educate families on their options for raising healthy families as well as having safe natural births to enable them to make educated informed choices. She has collaborated with local birth professionals such as midwives, doulas, birth coaches/educators, acupuncturists, massage therapists, lactation consultants, and many others to help empower families in our communities.
Her approach has a powerful impact on families that are seeking options for safer, easier natural births. Chiropractors align your spine removing interferences (better communication between brain and body) in your nervous system. Chiropractic lays a solid foundation for wellness throughout a mother’s pregnancy, the birthing process, childhood, and adulthood by keeping your spine free of interferences, allowing your body to function at 100% and express your greatest potential.
The Webster technique is a specific, gentle, yet effective technique that is safe for pregnant women to help balance pelvic muscles and ligaments, allowing more space for the baby to get in the correct position for birth, which potentially improves birth outcomes. This technique has a powerful impact on families that are seeking options for safer, easier natural births. Chiropractic care has been shown to decrease labor time, reduce the need for pain medications, and help reduce the incidence of post-partum depression in new mothers.
Happy Health Spine offers Infant Massage Classes, Baby Sign Language classes, and have a monthly meet-up called Mother’s Morning Out, which is a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded moms, dads, grandparents, and caregivers. We typically have a different topic or activity planned each month for you and your little ones. Dr. Whitlock is available for health talks at your events, office, or mama meet-ups.
Happy Healthy Spine is located in St. Petersburg, FL, and Dr. Whitlock see patients from all over the Tampa Bay area as far south as Sarasota, far east as Plant City. She does home visits as well as visits to birth centers for moms in labor, post-partum visits, and newborn checks.
